Diagrams
Diagrams in ControlCom Connect provide powerful SCADA-like visualization capabilities, allowing you to create interactive one-line diagrams that represent your physical systems and processes with real-time data and control capabilities.
What are Diagrams
Diagrams are visual representations of your physical systems, equipment, and processes that provide both monitoring and control capabilities. Unlike dashboards that focus on data visualization, diagrams create a visual model of your actual systems with interactive components that reflect real-time states and allow operator interaction.
In ControlCom Connect, diagrams enable you to:
Create accurate visual representations of electrical systems, mechanical equipment, process flows, and other physical infrastructure Monitor real-time status and values from connected devices Control equipment and processes directly through the diagram interface Document system layouts and connections for operational and training purposes Provide operators with intuitive visual interfaces for system monitoring and control
Diagrams are particularly valuable for:
Electrical one-line diagrams showing power distribution systems Process flow diagrams for manufacturing or treatment processes Equipment layout diagrams for facilities and plants Network topology diagrams for communication systems HVAC system diagrams for building management
Diagram Editor
The ControlCom Connect Diagram Editor provides a comprehensive environment for creating and editing interactive diagrams:
Element Library
The element library contains a wide range of pre-built components organized into categories:
Electrical symbols (switches, breakers, transformers, generators) Process elements (tanks, pumps, valves, motors) Flow indicators (pipes, conveyors, direction arrows) Measurement displays (gauges, indicators, value displays) Containers and grouping elements Text and annotation elements
Properties Panel
The properties panel allows you to configure every aspect of your diagram elements:
Visual properties (size, color, orientation, style) Data binding settings for connecting to device variables Interaction settings for clickable elements Animation and state display configurations Custom properties specific to each element type
Layer Management
Complex diagrams can be organized using layers to manage visibility and editing:
Group related elements on separate layers Control layer visibility for different viewing modes Lock layers to prevent accidental changes Arrange layer order for proper visual hierarchy
Diagram Elements
Diagrams in ControlCom Connect are built using various specialized elements:
Creating Diagrams
To create a new diagram in ControlCom Connect:
- Navigate to the Diagrams section in the main navigation
- Click the "+" button to create a new diagram
- Enter a name and optional description for your diagram
- Select visibility settings (Public or Private)
- Optionally, associate the diagram with a specific device
- Click "Create" to open the diagram editor
Binding Data
The power of diagrams comes from connecting visual elements to real-time data:
Variable Binding
Elements can be bound to device variables to display real-time values:
- Select the element you want to bind data to
- Open the Data Binding section in the properties panel
- Select the device and variable to bind to the element
- Configure how the data affects the element (value display, color change, position, etc.)
- Set update frequency and aggregation options if needed
State Mapping
For elements that represent equipment with different states:
- Define the possible states for the element (on/off, open/closed, etc.)
- Map each state to a specific visual representation (color, icon, position)
- Configure the data condition that determines each state
- Set transition animations between states if desired
